Bruce Cain

BRUCE A. CAIN is an Associate Professor of Music at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He is the principle voice teacher and director of the Opera Theatre.

Dr. Cain's singing career began as an apprentice with the Chautauqua Opera and then on to Chicago, where the Sun-Times hailed him as “an eloquent soloist” and the Chicago Tribune joined in praising his “sensitivity” as an artist. In the summer of 1999, Dr. Cain was delighting audiences in Scotland for a two-week engagement at the famed Edinburgh Fringe Festival with Concert Dance Inc.

Dr. Cain has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras including:

  • Chicago Symphony Orchestra
  • Grant Park Symphony Orchestra
  • Billings Montana Symphony
  • Quad Cities Symphony
  • Austin Symphony Orchestra.
  • His most recent appearances with the Austin Civic Chorus include Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Handel’s Israel in Egypt, and Messiah.
